RESULTS!

CONGRATS TO TEAM STUDS!
Team Studs def. Team Draino (21-9, 21-15, 7-15)
Team Speed def. Team Vets (21-10, 21-19, 21-18)

“We just do what we do and be who we be!” -Len Segal

“Thanks for setting this up. Good time.” -Chris Benne

“The tournament was a great idea to kick up the intensity-thanks for all the organizing! Team Draino never really recovered from losing Brett to work, and Ross never was the same after OPP took him out-I don't think we have actually spotted Ross since that incident. Congrats to the Studs, they rolled over us today.” -Pete Sherman

““I thought the Wednesday morning tournament went really well. The teams were divided evenly which created some great games. I’m pretty sure everyone finishing 3-3 proves my point. There were plenty of funny moments (Randy faking a pass over my head to get an easy lay-up, Drew banking a 3 from deep), as well as some painful moments (OPP dislocating a finger, Linsey throwing elbows), and who can forget the arguments and fights. In the end, it was fun and everyone got along………..for the most part. The only good part of the year coming to an end is, no more Stan Kaniecki emails.” -The Young One, Johnny Dickshot, Shwab (Am I forgetting any Nicknames?)

“This whole tournament started out as a great idea to step up the level of competition. To see the guys (and gal) that you have played with for years get up and in your face was something of a spectacle. I really appreciate the fact that I survived the tourney without donating any blood.

Next time I'll have Alex play WITH my team instead of against my team.

All in all a great time! Looking forward to the next round.” -Dan Engen

“I played like an NIT finalist.” -Greg Ulland

Championship Wednesday match-ups!

There has been some talk about playing the #1 seed v. #4 and #2 v. #3. I am game to do that NEXT TIME, however, I would like to stick with the original rules that were stated BEFORE we started just to stay consistent! Sounds like a better idea for next time!

I calculated the game and series records yesterday. I would say we had some pretty evenly matched teams based on the fact that we ALL ended up with a series record of 3-3. Therefore, I had to go right to the head to head game records.

Team Speed: Did not win any of the head to head game records (all were 2-4). Therefore, they ended up with the #4 seed.

Team Cagey Vets: Tied head to head with Draino (3-3), but lost to Studs (2-4). They end up with the #3 seed.

Team Draino: Tied with both the Vets and Studs. HOWEVER, they have the advantage over the Vets because the next thing we look to is the OVERALL game record. Draino ended up 10-8 overall, and the Vets were 9-9.

Team Studs: Tied with Draino (3-3) and had the advantage over the Vets (4-2). Furthermore, they ended up with the best overall game record (11-7) and nab the #1 seed!

According to my calculations, these are the match-ups for next Wednesday, Championship Wednesday!

Court #1: Team Studs (home) v. Draino (away)
Court #2: Team Vets (home) v. Team Speed (away)

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Results:
Team Speed defeated Team Cagey Vets 2-1 (21-19, 21-20, 19-21)
Team Draino defeated Team Studs 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 21-15)
Team Draino: “The steam was taken out of the games before we started! Get out of bed Team Studs!!” -Chris Simon

Team Studs: “Thank you Team Draino for allowing Ralph to play with us. Little did we know that he would hit the game winner that will most likely put us into the Championship Game. Both teams played really well and for once there was no fighting. Draino played well and looking forward to a rematch in the Championship Game.” -Mark Porter

Team Speed: “Team Speed went into today's matchup with nothing to lose... Nothing... We can out victorious because of the hard work and dedication from Chris, Kris and Dave. Each of my teammates contributed to our victory this morning and I am so proud of each of them. Way to go Team Speed!

Oh, and we're glad no blood was drawn by Lins... Especially me since we were matched up.” -Dan Engen

Team Cagey Vets: “Dattilo’s threes, Ulland’s clutch shots, and big Mike’s solid post play were not enough this morning for the Cagey Vets. Dan Engen was “the difference maker” this morning, he answered every call. “ -Randy Lothrop

May 13th Results

Results:
Team Cagey Vets defeated Team Studs 2-1 (15-21, 21-5, 21-19)
Team Draino defeated Team Speed 3-0 (21-13, 21-19, 21-20)

Post-game quotes:

Team Vets: “Scott was automatic today! Team Studs threw everything at him and he still didn't miss!!” - Mike Havrilla

Team Studs: “The cagey vets came into this morning with a solid game plan. And after a slow start, they did not waver from that game plan, I guess why they got that name.” - Tom McKelvey

Team Draino: “Every game was close, and each team scored in spurts. Team Draino got a couple of key steals courtesy of Ross, and we relied heavily on Big Country to win today. 4 on 4 on the big court-I'm ready for a nap!” - Pete Sherman

Team Speed: “We lost.” - Kris Woods

May 6th Results

Results:
Team Cagey Vets defeated Team Draino 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 15-14)
Team Studs defeated Team Speed 3-0 (21-13, 21-15, 21-19)

Post-game comments:

Team Vets: “Ulland – nuff said.” - Scott Dattilo

Team Draino: "After winning our first match, we have lost 3 in a row. We are very competitive but are having a difficult time closing out games. We almost blew our lone winning game today leading 20-10. We will turn things around. If not, we will have a good pick in next year's draft." - Steve Pietrek

Team Studs: “I was unaware, but evidently my team wanted to work on their times tables. 3 times 7 equals 21. I did quite well at the zero times table. 5 attempts X 0 equals 0.” - Drew Ostendorf

Team Speed: “I've never seen a team win a game on 7 3s...until today...also our team shooting percentage was about 20percent. They played well. We will have to regroup quickly for next weeks game. Also after moving some of the ap tables I decided to stay and take it. In honor of team studs i just answered" 3" for all of the questions..think I might have done pretty well.” - David Moss

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Results:
Team Cagey Vets defeated Team Speed 3-0 (21-18, 21-11, 15-12)
Team Studs defeated Team Draino 2-1 (21-15, 17-21, 21-20)

Post-game analysis quotes:
-Team Speed: “Hmmmm... How about the fact that Team Speed couldn't hit a shot to save our lives. On the other hand, Team Cagey Vets were relentless and they couldn't be stopped! Congratulations on a great victory.” – Dan Engen
-Team Studs: We didn’t play great defense today, didn’t talk well on defense, settled for to many jump shots but we got the job done. Even when the other team was calling illegal screens on us…” - Matt Rooks
-Team Draino: “Wow! This series could not have been any closer or more tenacious because it came down to game three. Stiff arms, deadly picks, and up in your jock strap defense was the definition of this series. Team Draino screwed themselves at the end with three turnovers instead of the win. However, credit should go out to Tom M. Parker #9 for nailing game winner in the lane. P.S. I love basketball!” - Chris Simon
-Team Cagey Vets: “Greg was a machine on the boards. Randy hit some heavily contested shots. Scott got hot when we needed him to. Mike was solid and hit some great 12-15 footers. Alex converted EVERY pressure packed layup. I, on the other hand, am going home today to bathe in some CLR since I had to guard OPP. Stan suggested that, and his wife is an AMAZING doctor, so by marriage that makes him smart, no?” – Linsey Farroh

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Results:
Team Speed defeated Team Draino 2-1 (21-20, 21-19, 15-21)
Team Studs defeated Team Cagey Vets 3-0 (21-15, 21-6, 21-19)

Post-game analysis quotes:

Team Speed: Physically exhausting matchup with team Draino. This matchup could have gone either way and I like the chances of a rematch in the finals. – Chris Benne

Team Studs: “When Drew is banking 3 pointers, you know it’s going to be a good day.” - Mark Porter

Team Draino: “Today’s games were intense! Unfortunately for us, we didn't capitalize on a couple opportunities and fell 2 of the 3 games. Time to focus on next week’s matchup and get prepared mentally.” - Ralph Watkins

Team Cagey Vets: “We will concede the 15-18’ Drew Ostendorf jumper. If we get beat that way then so be it. Side note…we got beat that way. Cagey Vets, 0 and 2 start….ouch. What doesn’t kill you only makes you better, and I’m not dead!” - Randy Lothrop

Team Cagey Vets: “The entire thing came down to Offensive Rebounding.” - Greg Ulland

April/May Madness

Hoopsters! We will be posting the teams for April/May Madness at the beginning of April! Mark your calendar for Wednesday mornings! The last two Wednesday mornings and all five Wednesdays in May set teams will compete against each other. May 29th will be Championship Wednesday! Note: Monday and Friday we will continue to mix up teams and play as we regularly do.

There will be four teams. Your team will play the other three teams two times (throughout a total of 6 Wednesdays). Each Wednesday we play will be a three game series. The best of three wins the series (but you will still have to play the third game for tiebreaker purposes at the end). We will keep a "series" record between the teams as well as a "game" record. The seeds for the seventh Wednesday, Championship Wednesday, will be determined by the "series" record. In the case of a tie, we will go to the head to head game record. In the case of a head to head game record tie, we will go with the overall game record (NOTE: For tiebreaker purposes, even if your team loses 0-2 and loses the series, you will still want to win the third game to improve your overall game record and give your team a chance in the the case of a tiebreaker).

Let the comments begin.
